January 23, 2012
The Asociación Mexicana de Profesionales Inmobiliarios (Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals / AMPI), installed its 2012 board and section presidents on Friday, January 20, in Mexico City. Sergio Gómez was sworn in as AMPI national president as part of the formal "Toma de Protesta" of the Consejo Nacional 2012 ("Swearing" of the 2012 National Council).
In attendance was Ariel Cano Cuevas, Director General of the Housing Commission, attending on behalf of Mexico's President Felipe Calderón who, at the last minute, was unable to be present. This is the first time such a high level government representative has attended the Toma de Protesta.
In his maiden speech, Gómez stressed the importance of implementing AMPI’s newly defined strategy which has been well laid out. He is dedicated to making AMPI an even more valuable asset for the real estate professional by offering concrete tools to enable better quality and service in conjunction with new licensing in the country, along with a continued emphasis on code of ethics and professional business standards
Among the essential tools Gómez wants to implement (or further enhance) is international cooperation, the exchange of expertise, and continued education for agents, both in the classroom and online. Linda Neil from La Paz, Mexico, was named as Vice President of AMPI's International Commission.
ICREA CEO Thijs Stoffer was in attendance at Gómez's swearing in to offer congratulations on behalf of ICREA (right). AMPI is represented on the ICREA board by César Parades, a past president of AMPI.
