NVM is the largest and foremost professional real estate association in the Netherlands. With a membership of more than 4,000 NVM covers some 70% of the total Dutch property market. The NVM organization concerns itself with general matters of policy, such as national and international developments within the general professional field, public affairs and the provision of services to members in respect of legal affairs, public relations, research and development, automation, consumer support and quality care. NVM focuses on market developments within the real estate sector and is as divided into three specialist sections: NVM Residential Real Estate, NVM Commercial Real Estate and NVM Agrarian Real estate All NVM members belong to at least one of these three sections.
All NVM members meet strict high educational standards. Compulsory continual education ensures that the professional knowledge of NVM professionals remains up to the minute and in step with the developments in their specialist markets. In The Netherlands a branch-coordinated system of certification is in place. NVM members are certified according to national professional criteria and registered as such.
Membership also involves the obligation to enter property portfolios into the NVM national multi-listing system. This exchange system is operated nationwide and offers all affiliated brokers access to properties for rent or sale all over the Netherlands. The www.funda.nl site makes the complete NVM MLS content available to consumers. With more than 200,000 hits per day, funda is the most popular residential property site in the Netherlands, offering the most complete range of homes for sale, both houses and flats, as well as new developments and rented accommodation. As leading professional organization in The Netherlands NVM is represented in a number of international associations in the real estate domain. NVM is a member of ICREA (International Consortium of Real Estate Associations) CEPI (the Conseil Européen des Professions Immobilières), EPAG (the European Property Agents Group), IVSC (the International Valuation Standards Committee) and FIABCI, the International Real Estate Federation.
NVM was founded in 1898, making it one of the oldest organized real
estate groups in the world. It is headquartered in Nieuwegein.
